The secret things belong to the Lord our God. Deuteronomy 29:29

The good news is that God knows the future. The future is in His hands and under His control.

Some Christian teachers have questioned this in recent years. Their idea is that the future is shaped by our choices, and that even God can’t know the future until these choices are made.

But the God of the Bible is bigger than that. He is the Alpha and the Omega (Rev. 1:8). He sees and makes known the end from the beginning (Isa. 46:10).

David says, “Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord” (Ps. 139:4 NIV). God knows all about your thoughts, your words, and your choices. You can’t make a move that takes God by surprise.

Job said, “He knows the way that I take” (Job 23:10). We don’t know all of God’s ways. But God knows all our ways.

You don’t know what your life will look like in ten years, but God does. He has said, “I will never leave you” (Heb. 13:5). He has said, “My grace is sufficient for you” (2 Cor. 12:9). This is our confidence in facing the future.

How does it feel knowing that the future is in God’s hands and under His control? Can you think of some specific things in your future that you are glad to have in God’s hands? Maybe you would like to entrust one or two of these things into His hands now.
