In his great mercy he has given us new birth. 1 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
Perhaps you’ve recently become a Christian. You recognize that you are a sinner who needs a savior, and you recognize that Jesus Christ is the Savior you need.
So as best you know how, you’ve told Jesus that you believe in him and that you’ve decided to follow him. The big question is: Where do you go from here? That’s the question we are going to look at over the next couple of months as we walk through Peter’s first letter.
There are others who are still thinking it all through. Perhaps you’ve begun to explore what Christians believe, and you sometimes find yourself wondering, What would it be like if I made a commitment to Jesus Christ? What should I expect if I do that? What will it cost me? And is this something that I can actually do?
If you find yourself in either of these two places, the next couple of months will give you an inside look at the realities of the Christian life.
Have you recently become a Christian? Or have you recently begun to explore Christianity? Do you know someone who has? If so, you might pray for them as you go through this devotional (and share what you are learning with them).
