“Where is your faith?” Luke 8:25 (NIV)

Remember, Jesus is speaking to the disciples. These men have already left everything to follow Him. They’ve put their trust in Him, and they’re in the process of discovering more about Him.

They are in the same position as a Christian believer today. Jesus knows that they have faith. The problem is that they are not exercising it, so He asks them this question: “Where is your faith?”

It is possible to have faith and not to use it. It is possible to have faith and leave it dormant in a time of trouble. Faith does not work automatically. It has to be engaged. Faith involves an intentional act of putting your trust in all that you know of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There has to be an intentional act of the mind, the heart, and the will, in which you say, “I have put my trust in Jesus Christ. I believe that He is the Savior of the world, and that He has power over sin, death, and hell. I believe that He is in control of all history and that He is guiding it towards its climax, when His glory will be revealed. I have committed my life into His hand, and I am one of His children.” He holds His children in His hand, and He never lets one of them go.

Jesus may lead you into a storm, but He will never abandon you there. Nothing in this life or in the world to come can ever separate you from Him or stop Him from fulfilling His purpose for you. Therefore, you can trust Him in the storm.

Is your faith engaged in the storm that you are facing right now?
