He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision, or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:11-13 (NIV)

This is the central teaching of the Bible. Jesus Christ has come into the world to make a new life possible for you. This offer of new life is for every person. It is the gift of God for all who will receive Him, for all who will believe on His name.

To people of every race, age, and background, God says, “If you will believe in my Son, Jesus Christ, I will become your Father. I will give you the right to become my child.”

Think about what this means. To become a child of God would mean that the seed of God’s life would be implanted in you. It would mean that God’s nature would begin to be seen in you. And because the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, the ultimate outcome of your life would be that you should reflect the glory of God for all eternity.

Have you believed in Jesus Christ? Have you received this gift of God? Or are you banking on the idea that we are all God’s children and everything will be alright in the end?
