It is by grace you have been saved… the incomparable riches of his grace. Ephesians 2:5, 7 (NIV)

There is nothing that you can compare with God’s grace. There’s nothing like His kindness to us in Jesus Christ.

The word translated here as incomparable is a combination of two words. The first means “throwing out,” and the second means “over-the-top.” It is where we get our word “hyper” from.

By laying hold of us when we were dead in our sins, and making us alive with Christ, God is displaying His over-the-top grace in the life of every Christian. It is over-the-top grace, isn’t it? To give this mercy, at the infinite expense of the suffering of His Son, to His own enemies?

Some people are saying today, “A few people have all the wealth. Why don’t we redistribute it?” While others are saying, “If you want more wealth, why don’t you go and earn it?” A massive distribution of wealth that has not been earned. Where would you expect to see that?

The incomparable, over-the-top riches of God’s unmerited favor thrown out to His enemies, at infinite cost to Himself on a cross. There is nothing like this in any culture, in all of human history. You only find this kind of over-the-top grace in Jesus Christ.

What happened when you became a Christian? God gave life to you. God imparted power to you. God secured heaven for you. God showered grace on you.

What is your reaction to God’s over-the-top grace?
