“Whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” Luke 9:24

Do you want to grow in faith? Do you want to discover hope? Do you want to have a greater capacity to love? Embrace your cross and follow Jesus through all the stuff of life.

How can faith be formed if you have all the answers? How can hope be found if you already have all that you want? How can love grow when you’re always receiving more than you give?

Faith is formed when you can’t see your way forward, but you take up your cross and follow Christ anyway. Hope is found when you long for something that you do not have, but you take up your cross and keep following. Love grows when you have to give without receiving in return, and yet you take up your cross and follow Him.

Jesus’ words about “losing” your soul point to what Jesus promises to do for every person who will follow Him. He promises to restore your loss, if you will follow Him.

If something is lost, it means you can’t find it or use it. Jesus came to seek and to save what was lost. Some of us know that we’ve lost faith, hope, and love. You’ve been gaining the world, and you lost yourself. Jesus said, “I can give it back to you. You will find what you lost, if you will come and follow me.” Are you ready to do that? Jim Elliot said: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

Where could you intentionally take up your cross and follow Jesus today so that more faith is formed, more hope is found, or more love grows in your life?
