5. He will confess you to the Father
“If you confess me before men, I will confess you before My Father in heaven” (Mat. 10:32, author’s paraphrase). This is the promise of [final] salvation. What other moment in your life could match the moment of hearing Jesus tell the Father you belong to Him? The reason there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus is that He claims us as His own. Those who are with Him have nothing to fear.

6. He will bring you into heaven
“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me” (John 14:3). This is the promise of joy. Christ opened heaven through His death and resurrection. When He said, “I go and prepare a place for you,” He was going to the cross. He was going to the grave. And then He was going into heaven itself, ascending for us to take His place at the right hand of the Father in heaven—as our Advocate, our Redeemer, our Savior, and our coming King.

7. He will show you His glory
“I will that those you have given me should be with me and see my glory” (John 17:24; author’s paraphrase). This is the promise of glory. Or, even better, this is the promise of Christ Himself. Everything Christ promises is yours in Him and nothing that He promises is yours without Him. God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Eph. 1:3)!

Which one of these promises are you least certain of today? Spend some time meditating on and reflecting on Jesus’ words.
