Launch Out into the Deep

April 9, 2019

Soon afterward he [Jesus] went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him… Luke 8:1

What should you do if the problem with your faith is that it has been sitting on the display cabinet, instead of being used? There is only one answer to this condition, and that is the spiritual discipline of service.

Maybe you’ve been splashing around in the shallows of faith for too long. More than anything else, you need a man or woman-sized challenge that is going to push you outside your comfort zone, so that you need to trust God like never before!

It’s hard to stay on a bicycle that isn’t moving—go and do something! The disciples discovered what God could do as they threw themselves into something beyond themselves. If you don’t know what to do, then ask: “Lord, what do you want me to do?” Christ will take you out of your area of comfort, and you will find that you prove God in ways that you never thought possible.

Christ calls us out of our depth. He invites us to launch out into the deep. The storm may be raging, but if you are where Christ has called you to be, and you are doing what he called you to do, he will bring you through.

Are you ready to launch out and serve God? Are you ready to get out of your comfort zone? Ask the Lord what he wants you to do.
