“Where is your faith?” Luke 8:25 (NIV)

Christian faith is always faith in Christ. Faith is not some inner capacity that we develop. It is the natural response to a proper appreciation of Jesus.

Faith draws its strength from the capacity of our Savior. What can faith do for you? Not much. What can Christ do for you? A great deal. We do not have faith in faith. We have faith in Christ.

Christian faith is the natural response to a proper appreciation of Jesus. This Jesus is entirely worthy of your trust. If you know this Christ, you will trust Him.

The disciples find themselves in the middle of a storm, and Jesus says to them, “Where is your faith?” In other words, “You’ve seen what I am able to do. Don’t you think I can handle this? Do you really think the whole plan of God for the salvation of the world is going to go down on this little lake?” Jesus is calling them to lean into what they have learned about Him. Faith is leaning into what you know of Christ.

The Savior will lead you into all kinds of storms. He will bring you through them and He will bring you out of them. The storms of life will not sink His purpose for you.

The last storm Jesus will lead you into will be the storm of death, but even death will not sink His purpose. He will bring you through it into His presence, where there is fullness of joy! The storm will not sink the purpose of God; it will be the place where you grasp more of His glory.

Are you looking to the strength of your faith or to the strength of Jesus right now?
