“What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world?” Luke 9:25

1. The World of Knowledge
Why do we send kids to school? Because there is a world of knowledge to gain. Some people love math. Some like science. Some people don’t like books, but they open up a computer and are fascinated by how it all works. When you find something that really interests you it is often an indication of what you should pursue. Maybe you went to college, graduate school, or you are in the middle of that kind of work now. You spend hours in the library, and you feel you’ve hardly scratched the surface. There is a wonderful world of knowledge to gain.

2. The World of Sports
Depending on where you’re from, you might have grown up enjoying football, soccer, baseball, or basketball. How would any major business deals ever get done without a round of golf? But sports aren’t just for playing, they’re also for watching. Who doesn’t get the chills at the United Center when they introduce the players with laser lights and thumping music? There is a wonderful world of sports, and it is a world to gain.

3. The World of Business
The corporate world is wide open for someone with a great idea and the initiative to develop it. Maybe you’re a small business owner, a partner in a firm, or a service provider. Maybe you dream of building, creating, or developing something. Maybe you can’t wait to launch out on your own. All of us find ourselves asking: Where do I fit in? How can I contribute? What can I accomplish? These are good questions, and they drive the wonderful world of business.

Reflect on these worlds. How did you invest in them last year? How do you plan to this year?
