No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 1 John 3:9 (NIV)

If the life of God is in you, people will be able to look at you and say, “You can tell that God is his Father. You see something of the likeness of Jesus in him.”

Jesus said that a good tree produces good fruit and a bad tree produces bad fruit. The way that you can tell if people have God as their Father is by looking at whether they live in a way that reflects the character of God.

The problem for the Christian is that while God is our Father and the seed of His life is in us, we are still living this life in the flesh. This is what makes the Christian life so confusing. On one hand, the seed of God’s life is in you and the glory of reflecting His nature is already begun. On the other hand, you are still struggling with all the temptations of the flesh.

When he appears we shall be like him (1 John 3:2).

You died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God (Col. 3:3 NIV).

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Cor. 5:17).

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me (Gal. 2:20 NIV).

Christ in you is the hope of glory (Col. 1:27). We are not God’s children by natural birth. We become God’s children by spiritual birth through faith in Jesus Christ. That opens up the door of hope for every person.

Can you see how this opens the door of hope for you? Are you ready to walk through it?
