For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17

Life in this world is like a bell curve that begins with rising opportunities and ends with declining strength. Visit a nursing home with older people. Activity is limited. Things that were once easy are now much harder to do. Time passes slowly.

Brother or sister in Christ, you will never tire of the life that God has in store for you. It will never become old, stale, routine, or dull. God speaks to us about “springs of living water.” Not a stagnant pool, but a fresh flowing fountain. Christ himself will lead you into the joys of this life. You will never want it to end, and God says that it never will!

This promise gives us a marvelous glimpse of our hope in Jesus Christ. What good would a promise be if it died with us, or if it were withdrawn when we are unfaithful, or if it expired after a certain period of time? But God’s promise to us in Jesus Christ is stronger than death, greater than sin, and longer than time.

“He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading” (1 Pet. 1:3-4). This promise can never perish, so death can’t end it! It can never spoil, so sin can’t ruin it! It can never fade, so time can’t diminish it!

Have you begun losing hope, fearing that God’s promise might perish, end or spoil? Renew your hope by holding onto this promise that is yours through Jesus Christ.
