Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit. Romans 12:11
This a command. So when you see that you are growing cold, you have a responsibility for your own spiritual condition. The Holy Spirit of God lives in you. That means you are not helpless. You can act. You must rouse yourself. But how do you do that? Here are the three R’s of spiritual renewal.
Jesus brought you into a redeemed life in which you are forgiven, lovingly adopted into the family of God, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and destined for a life of everlasting joy. Why are you feeling sorry for yourself? Apply the truth of the mercies of God—all that He has done for you in Christ, and you will be renewed in spirit.
When Augustine looked at the commands of God he said, “Command what You will, only give what You command!” You can come to God and ask Him to restore your soul.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” (Col. 3:23, NIV). Whatever kind of work you do, God has called you to this work, and so in doing it you are serving Him.
Do you need to exercise your faith in the redeeming, restoring, or reigning work of Jesus today?
