For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

Every Christian is crafted by the hand of God. “We are God’s workmanship.” The word translated workmanship here is the word “poiéma” from which we get our English word “poem.”

You are God’s work of art. There is something beautiful about every redeemed life. If you are in Christ, something of His beauty will be seen in you. Something of His beauty will be heard in what you say, and something of His beauty will be seen in what you do.

The purpose of God is that people will look at your life and say, “Jesus is at work in that person.” Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and give praise to your Father who is in heaven. We are not created in Christ by good works. We are created in Christ for good works, which He prepares in advance for us to do.

Do you really know what it means to be a Christian? Can you say, “God has given life to me”? “God has imparted power to me”? “God has secured heaven for me”? “God has showered grace on me”? Can you honestly say, with conviction, “God has saved me”? “God has given faith to me”? “God has prepared work for me to do”? These amazing miracles of God’s grace are the truth about every Christian believer.

Are these things true of you? If not, thank God He is awakening you. Draw near to Him in repentance and faith and ask Him to give you what you do not yet have.
