We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. 1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV)

It is easy to get into a routine in which we live on good intentions. You intend to be a better Christian one day. You expect to get right with God one day. You intend to share the gospel with that friend one day. But somehow that day never comes. It is never today.

First Thessalonians confronts us with the urgency of our calling and commission from Jesus Christ. Our lives are passing. Christ is coming. We do not have forever to fulfill our calling.

All around us are people who have never seen the glory of Christ. Some live comfortable lives. Some endure broken lives. Either way they are without the Son of God. And the Bible says, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12).

God could have chosen to write the gospel message on the clouds, or He could have sent an angel to each person on earth with the good news, but in His infinite wisdom, God chose to use vessels of clay—people like us—to proclaim Christ to a dying world. God has placed people around us who do not know Him, and it is incumbent upon us to share His love with them.

Have you told someone the good news about Jesus lately? Why not today?
